Seems like every article I read Florida is “the place” for retirement.  In fact if you read different articles on “where to retire” different cities in Florida always shows up.  So I decided to do some homework as to why. In this article I will compare Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.  Each of these states are close in proximity, have plenty of coastal line and sunshine…which lure tons of seniors, so they are good side-by-side comparisons.  Let’s see what the data says about each of these states, then each of you can choose which is best for you.

This data I complied was interesting to me.  Granted this isn’t complete data and the values given in the ranking, most certainly could be weighted differently based off of someones specifics desires.  For example, the hours of sunshine per year may be the most important metric to me, while you are most concerned about property taxes. This was just simply some interesting data to help seniors look at three states semi-objectively.  From what I see, Florida may be overrated.
